You've accurately cited the dictionary definition, found
here. But many people also refer to as "trashy" artworks, behaviors, cars, clothing, language, people, etc., that are tasteless, garish, slovenly, inappropriately bellicose or aggressive, promiscuous, inappropriately loud, inappropriately sexual, etc. I gather this second context, not the first, is what the poster was referring to in this context.
