Trashy by definition means of poor or inferior quality. To call romances trashy is to say they are junk. In this particular case using the term implies all romances with sex scenes are poor quality. We all know that is not true.
What of other genres that have sex in them? Does this make them trashy too? it's just a term that is almost always taken out of context. We romance readers should not be shamed for reading books with sex in them. Misinformed people use terms like trashy, smut, mommy porn to describe romance and I'm just so tired of it.
