I'm still fuzzy on one thing. I have been under the impression that if a book is in copyright in another country, it is off limits to people in every other country also. Is that impression incorrect, then?

Ack! I do wish that copyright laws would be simplified, and on an international basis, at that, so that there is single standard for all of them (that's probably like wishing for an end to all wars and and end to poverty. ha).
