Thanks for your response to my post.
I wasn't being dishonest or intending to be misleading.
I'm not even a member of Audible, even though I have purchased books from them before. And, of course, my books are distributed through their site (among others).
I was only promoting a free book from among a group of authors who share the same narrator. I really thought I was offering a free book. Nothing more.
I give away audio codes and .mobi (kindle) files all of time for fans who send me emails. They don't ask for them, I just give them away. I figure the goodwill I share with readers is far more valuable than the $2.00 I make off a sale. And one bad experience from a reader negates 1000 good ones.
Why would I (and we're going back to intent here) risk ruining the trust of my readers and potentially new ones by offering something dishonest?
I understand there are hucksters or shysters or whatever you want to call them out there trying to bilk people out of their hard earned money. I'm not one of them.
And if you can't tell by my response, my willingness to open myself to more ridicule by joining the chat, or by sharing an honest exchange on FB with one of your thread members, the idea that anyone thinks I'm dishonest is bothersome.
That said, I apologize to anyone who thinks they were sold a bill of goods. Not my intent. This whole thing came as a huge surprise to me, which is why I feel compelled to engage.
And if you downloaded one these books, feel cheated, and Audible doesn't return your credit...Let me know at my email address listed in this thread and I'll buy you a book myself.

Audible's "Send This Book" feature is still relatively new to people. Remember, it's something that users only get one shot at using, ever (as far as it comes to receiving a title). As you might guess by the forum title here we care a lot about getting deals and making the most effective use of all of the things audiobook companies offer us.
I, for one, had no idea this was a STB offer. I, personally, would have been disappointed if I had used it for one of these books. That's not to say that I would consider one of your books "not worth it." I simply mean that I would have likely used another method (such as some $ credits with a Whyspersync for Voice matching purchase) to get one of your titles and saved my STB offering to get a much larger tome I could not get at a discount any other way.
If you're still listening to me at this point (I'm trying to be reasonable here), all I would suggest is that when you post an offer like this, just mention that it is using Audible's shiny new "Send This Book" feature. This way those people who are still interested can take advantage of your offer.
That's my two cents. Take it or leave it. And, to the rest of you, my apologies for both starting this whole chain of events and for my overly-verbose rantings here.
