Could this be extended to spell checking. If a word is partially marked as italic or bold etc, then false spelling errors can eventuate. The following will create a spelling error, because 'cordantly' isn't a word .

Yeah, I know its a awful practice, and I have no idea why anyone would mark such a word thus, but they do. I even run into it in academic texts! What's the world coming to
