The variability in screens in the real world use is far less of a factor than people think it is.

Possible I guess. I don't think I'm especially picky, observant, or influenced by anyone else's opinions. The overall blotchiness of my PW1 never bothered me although I could certainly see it. My Kobo Aura isn't perfect (there's a narrow line of light running all the way across the top of the screen) but that doesn't bother me either. My Kobo Aura H2O, Kobo Glo HD, and my two Nooks all look perfectly fine to me.
When I noticed the two-toned effect of my Voyage screen (almost immediately) I very mistakenly thought I'd have no trouble getting used to it so I didn't return it. That experience probably made me look at the Oasis screen much more carefully though. Fortunately for me its small imperfections (faint smudgy areas along the side in some lighting conditions, comparatively slight color shift, text not as black as that on the Voyage) don't bother me at all.
The battery arrangement is taking a bit of adjustment on my part (mostly due to my habit of buying multiple cases for all my devices

) but I'm very attached to the Oasis already.
