Just a note: the Amazon Gift Card Balance on that page shows how much money you have left from redeemed Amazon Gift Cards, not how much you can apply toward purchasing one.

Your experience is great, and how it should go. But koland's experience is quite common. I personally have had a credit issued to me that wasn't visible in any balance and was unusable on two occasions. I tried getting the first one fixed, but the support rep couldn't figure out what had happened and it was a waste of time for everyone concerned. I just gave up and didn't try calling back the second time it happened.

Not to say all my experiences with Amazon support have been bad. I've had several great experiences. But they seem to seriously screw up issuing store credit on a regular basis. I suspect it's because they have way too many different store credit types to issue, and the support reps get confused.
