I can read in bed with just a side lamp at light 8 and the screen is even, I don't see the color shift or the cones in that situation.
During the day, I have my light at 10 maybe 11 and don't see any shift either. When I am reading inside. Outside I don't see anything but an even screen like all kindles.
So although I know there is a shift, I can see it if I turn the light higher and higher just to test, but in my reading conditions it is not there. I could not read say on 14 or 17 inside. Screen looks like its glowing, which for me defeats the purpose of e-ink.
If someone needed the light that high, I don't think they would be happy with my Oasis. But for me at light up to 11, the shift and the cones are not visible at all.
The contrast of the Oasis and the Voyage is about the same in my case. But my Voyage can be turned up and never does one see any cones or any shift. But I don't use it higher than 11 either.
I do think that the brain can adjust to certain things. Even in conditions when the cones are there a tad bit, when its really dreary out its hard to find just the right setting. After I read for a while, I don't see the cone shadows anymore, or the possible warmer tone on one side.
Thankfully those conditions are rare and just in some light conditions.

Lucky you! I basically see the changes and gradients all the time, without exception, which becomes more or less noticeable depending on how much attention I give it. My Voyage had a hue too but after a while it became less distracting. The hue on my Oasis is far worse and more noticeable because it changes across the screen, rather than from top to bottom. I'm wondering if I can learn to love the screen and ignore it with time, but I am going to see what I come up with during an exchange. I exchanged the voyage 2-3 times I believe, ending up with a device with discoloration but less than all the others. Sometimes I feel guilty for exchanging it so many times and/or being picky, but then I wonder if Jeff Bezos feels guilty for selling $450 premium devices with crappy screens and I hand my device over
