I have never used a cover while reading on any device, but I like to protect my readers when they're not in use so have always stored them in a sleeve. With the Oasis, the cover is as easy to remove as slipping my Voyage out of its sleeve. When I'm done reading, the Oasis goes right back into its cover, just as my Voyage goes back into its sleeve.
The Oasis is not meant for people who want a device that can go cover-less all the time. For those people, Amazon made the basic Kindle, Paperwhite and Voyage.
