Yesterday I had the chance to test a Kindle Paperwhite. That one was faster. Is this normal or is it something wrong with my ereader?

Ignoring the web browser comments (they are slow on all eink devices), the page turns, settings etc are slightly slower compared to the Paperwhite, but there shouldn't be that much of a difference. So if there is, there might well be something up with it. You could try using kepubs instead of epubs as that seems to make page turns a little zippier?
