Another Cat--Your analysis is interesting and cogent. I particularly liked the distimctions you drew between Woolf and Joyce. Joyce is by no means my favourite author but I agree that his approach to characterisation and the use of the underlying Homeric structure does give Ulysses an architectural solidity and informs its themes.
