I asked because Calibre can serve ebooks quite nicely (though I like COPS better).
Accessing the Dropbox folders should work.
So I think your problem is either a configuration problem or a rights issue. The first is hard to "debug" and the latter is a bit dangerous if you do not know what you do and change access rights (I know, I made all the errors
before I understood what I was doing).
