@Rickkins: On current versions, per-book settings are stored automatically (in the same sidecar folder as the native system).

In addition to the automated tarball update, there's also a couple of KUAL buttons to handle updates.

But, yeah, it's basically "unpack and overwrite", so, not rocket science
