Hi,
I went to the official liberation fonts website (hosted by Redhat) and downloaded the latest liberation-fonts-ttf-1.07.4.tar.gz unpacked it and installed the LiberationMono (Regular - Bold, Italic) on my machine.

The Sigil Preferences Appearance pull down for CodeView Fonts nicely showed Liberation Mono and I was easily able to add it (it is Sans and mono-spaced) and the preferences stayed. So there is nothing wrong with Sigil as long as you have properly added the fonts to your system so that Sigil can find them and the fonts are properly created and advertise their style upon query.
