For a technical question, we need the technical details (context).

Using the first four (or six) characters of the Device's serial number and this table:
https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kindle_Serial_Numbers
determine "which" touch screen model you have (there are six of them).

Tells us what firmware version you are running.

Tell us what all changes / add-ins you have made to it.
The reason for this is that all Kindles **do** enter a power down mode.
That is how they can go for weeks at a time without being re-charged (the battery in the Kindle devices is only good for 2 to 4 hours of run-time (depending) ) .
