Unfortunately, I lack the technical skills to answer this question. The most I can do is capture the dmesg output via a Kual shell script.

I suspect that the 5.7.4.1 firmware update also added something to the GUI, because in the demo video that I've seen the PW3 also announced the name of certain GUI elements.

When I used dmesg -c before inserting the usb sound card and then captured the dmesg output no new messages were captured.
I.e. the usb sound card probably wasn't detected at all. (When I restarted the Kindle with the usb audio card attached the dmesg output also contained a line that said that no ALSA devices were detected.)

Can you please post the vendor and device ids of your usb audio card(s)?
My usb audio card was listed as (C-Media Electronics Inc. [0D8C:0014]).
I'm curious to find out how common re-branded usb audio cards by this manufacturer are.
