Someone wrote in a post saying that he or she enjoyed museum exhibition catalogs. I do, also. Well, I came across this very well done one from the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar. It was written and published to go along with an exhibition that they had of Mughal and Safavid albums from September 2014 to February of last year.
Those of us in the west are generally unfamiliar with any art but western art. But cultures in the east, including the Mughal (the Mughal Empire was located in modern day India and Afghanistan) and Savavid (in modern day Iran) cultures, have had people of equal artistic genius produce artwork equally as beautiful as that in the west.

Book Description (from the book):
The folios on display in this exhibition were once bound together in albums assembled largely in Iran and India . . . .
Albums from the Safavid period in Iran demonstrate the development of painting styles from the constrained formalism of the early period, to the later, more intimate, depictions of beautiful women and youths, reflcting changing artistic tastes and interests at court . . . . In contrast to the charming individual portraits of dandies, beautiful ladies and dervishes produced in Safavid Iran, the portraits of rulers from the Mughal period in India reinforced the grandeur and power of the Mughal emperor through the careful use of symbolic imagery, and emphasise the importance of dynastic legitimacy to the imperial project of the Mughals and Safavids . . . .
