Just to weigh in on the Glo HD vs Paperwhite comparison.
Glo HD: I owned mine for 4 months until it started acting up. Advantage of Kobo is that since I own epubs, transferring them is easy, especially when used with the Kobo Utilities plugin. Software is a bit buggy (echoing the sentiments of many here). Screen is glossy/smooth. I do like the reading stats, automatically categorising books into "read, unread, and reading" lists, swipe at the side to increase or decrease light, font customisations are better, and the option to choose what kind of tap zones I like (i.e. where to tap to bring out the menu, to get to the previous and next pages). Simply put, Kobo feels much more personal. What made me decide to switch after 2 Kobo devices is their after-sales. I thought since they release Kobo items in my country, they'd at least have a service center. Unfortunately, I have to ship it back to Canada. And the same goes with those bought at their authorised reseller.
Paperwhite: the software feels much more stable for me; basically everything feels faster. Only option to organise books though is by making collections. Jailbreaking will add more customisation options though. And since my books are epubs, I have to take time to convert them first before sending it to my device (I prefer keeping epubs on my computer). The hardware feels sturdier to me and the glass is rougher so everytime I touch it, it reminds me of the texture of paper in books. Not exactly the same though but reminiscent. But the winning point for me is the after-sales. I talked to a representative and they are willing to refund the international shipping costs I will incur if I need to return my device for replacement.
Having experienced both devices, I personally prefer the Kindle better.
