I have seen discussions of that, but it seems they could easily defeat that method. They have deleted books off people's kindles, after all. And it may be dependent on firmware versions (and they have modified downloadable firmware without changing the URL or the filename). However, while it works now, perhaps airplane mode can be off. The only risk is that you may need to brush up on your soldering skills, eh?
