I am sure that a factory reset does NOT revert back to 5.6.5. It just reformats the partitions that contain personal data. The firmware version stays the same until you (or amazon) install a firmware update.

EDIT: And some amazon firmware updates are now actively preventing what they are calling a "firmware downgrade attack". Umm, wait a minute -- they are attacking our rights of personal ownership, so why would they call our efforts to thwart their attacks an "attack"? It can only make sense to ambulance-chasing attorneys and penny-pinching bean counters, IMHO...
