yup, follow those directions about connecting an external reference and that one will work also.
Note:
A Lithium Iron Disulfide battery, such as the Energizer Ultimate Lithium, has an open circuit voltage of 1.8 volts.
Since your only setting the reference of the CMOS I/O interface, "open circuit" is what the dry cell will be working at (for approximately longer than the Kindle will last).
So a quiet, precision, external, reference level is easy to find.
