Under product specs, in the "About your Kindle" Guide that I believe is the paper version you get with the Kindle, it states this.
Operating temperature 32°F to 95°F (0°C to 35°C)
and Storage Temperature
Storage temperature 14°F to 113°F (-10°C to 45°C)
It doesn't, however, state specifically that you can harm it by not following the guidelines.........
