I can look at my colossal list of unread ebooks and easily identify many that will never be read, because there will always be something I'd want to read more. In fact, my Calibre tags reflect that as I rate books for their perceived "readability;" at least this way I hope to cut down on the time a big library of ebooks takes.

I think this is a false dichotomy. When a new ebook is available at the touch of my finger, whyever would my choices be to read a bad book or to read a cereal box back? There are more great, highly appealing books in the world (and more every day) for me ever to want to waste time on a book that I don't feel like reading.
