Yes, but you may need to port OpenWRT (or dd-wrt) to the kindle in order to accomplish that (or borrow portions of its source code). It would be a huge effort of love to do such a thing, but it would certainly be a welcome addition to our community if you choose to put in such an effort.

Perhaps just porting bits and pieces from OpenWRT to our Kindle development efforts would be simplest, just as we have done with portions of the NSLU2 optware project.

In the case of OpenWRT, rebuilding from source would be the easiest route, because most OpenWRT binaries are mipsel instead of armel (different SoC instruction set). And FYI, I plan to port my OpenWRT mmc.ko module from OpenWRT to the kindles at some point, so I can support SD cards using a few stray I/O pins (by attaching wires to existing LEDs and switches), just like we did on OpenWRT routers:
