You posted this thread to the Kindle Developers Corner. At the top of the thread listing is a group of "sticky" threads (threads that will ALWAYS be stuck at the top). One of the sticky threads is the "Master Index" (i.e. where to start). It contains information on debricking a kindle using the serial port. That information INCLUDES links to threads that suggest where you can get a USB serial adapter, and how to use it. USB cables and USB serial adapters are VERY DIFFERENT THINGS. They have incompatible voltage levels, incompatible signals, and incompatible communications protocols. The purpose of a USB adapter is to convert BETWEEN TTL serial at the kindle at USB at the host PC. If you cannot grasp the basic information on what such an adapter is and how to wire it, you have no business actually using one (because it is far too easy to type something that will damage your device even worse and more difficult to repair). You need to take the time to actually read enough about this stuff BEFORE CONNECTING ANY WIRES, to learn ALL NECESSARY details. "Being sent around" is exactly what you need -- go study the stuff at those "sent around" locations, or find somebody with adequate technical skills and willingness to help you, to do all of this stuff for you. We cannot upload it into your head in any way OTHER than to give you links (i.e. to send you around)...

EDIT: Here is a thread you can read, which talks about a specific USB serial adapter that I bought: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=190149 I find it more than a little scary that you did not like "being sent around", and then you decided to connect raw USB wires to your kindle TTL serial port. What advice can we give you with such unexpected behavior?
