If yes, do you know of anyway to install CC on a non rooted device like the Nook Glowlight +?

Thanks Jackie
The requirement for Google Play (GP) was removed in February of this year, in CC version 4.3.4.4. If a device has GP then GP must work. If a device doesn't have GP then CC deals with it.

if you don't have GP then you are responsible for getting the CC APK (install file) and getting updates. This isn't hard if you have another device with GP. You need to extract the APK from the device with GP then sideload it onto the Nook. I have personally tested this process by running the GP version of CC on stock (not rooted) Amazon devices that for obvious reasons don't include GP.

The device must run Android 4+ to run CC V5. From what I see the Glowlight + runs Android 4.4 (Kitkat), so it qualifies. Older glowlights seem to run Android 2.3 so they will be limited to CC V4. Note that when CC runs on Kitkat, SD card support is limited even with CC V5. You can use an SD card with CC, but only the "application private directory". There is more information in CC's FAQ about this and related issues.

If you don't feel like dealing with the sideload hassle then you can get the Amazon Appstore and get CC that way. Unfortunately there is no way to deal with the cross-appstore purchase problem, so you be required to buy it again. The version of CC on the Appstore requires Android 4 or better.

I can't speak for Moon+.
