I only found this forum the day I posted this message. I also advertised the free offer on a number of other sites. As it is my first book and this was my first free Kindle Store promotion, I'm still very much learning as I go along. I did attempt to extend the free promo until the 5th; but by the time I attempted the change on the 3rd, the Amazon system would not allow me to do this without gap days. I now know this for next time.

I hope to do another free offer again sometime in the not too distant future. In the Kindle Select programme that I'm enrolled in, I'm only permitted to offer five free days in every 90 days.
