@KNC1, I don't think that applies to me, as the system I'm using is not 64 bit.
As Kubruck appears to be the defacto best solution, I tried it on several different boxes (eldest still running XP) with same results; quick flash of root filesystem.
So I went on, and tried ATK on an older laptop (Dell D830 running Win10/32bit), and it seems to be working; kernel flashed & maybe 25% of the way through root filesystem. Hopefully I'll be able to post a success report later today.
