My usage patterns are largely in part due to me seeing phones as a necessary evil. I have Republic Wireless and pay about $13/mo for service, on a 1st gen Moto E that I paid $99 for. I don't really like phones that much so I refuse to make any significant investment in them.

A lot of people think I have two phones because I have my iPod Touch (5th gen) in a wallet case - they assume it's an iPhone because who would put their mp3 player in a wallet case and not their phone?

I do use my old AT&T phone (from before Republic was viable here) as an extra mp3 player (I can never have too many) and an extra controller hub for my media server. It's a Pantech Flex and it's like brand new. I love it now that it no longer has a SIM card in it.
