That works because they are very similar.
You cannot say that 5 will automatically work on a 10 led side lit ereader because the light will be hitting the screen differently.
And the number settings will be different.
Now if it was me and I was going to spend that kind of money, I would not buy immediately. I would wait until they were in the store so I could physically see one to make sure I was comfortable with the lighting system.

The calibration of the light level "slider" or whatever you want to call it is irrelevant. This is purely a software decision of how a manufacture distributes the light setting option.
The fact is I have a near perfect PW2 at
all light levels. The picture I posted from a review at Amazon UK is very similar to the light level I read at in darkness. The coning on a product costing £170 more and two generations later is far worse.
