1) Yes, but without root you cannot use fullscreen (the app) which enables to conceal the status bar. The status bar is only gone in the native reader apps (adobe and FB, both in very simplified versions), and visible with any other reader app (I like AlReader and Koreader).
2) nope.
3) yes, it is quite white (as the Pro+) and the size is compact. It is not as white as other e-reader I have (Voyage and H2O), but it is the whitest I have seen on android ones.
4) not yet. Only 32 GB.
5) not yet. It's more of a toy for me than anything else right now, I will use it more when travelling. Do you want me to test some specific apps for you?
If you have the Pro+ and need TTS, the swap may not be worth it as the audio is gone on the Pro HD. Personally, I never found a TTS app I liked, I hated the voices in Spanish and German so I never used it.
