Oh yeah - the 700 was actually my first eInk reader. I didn't mind the screen and lighting so much (I hadn't seen any other eInk, so had nothing to compare it too), but I did mind the weight. It was heavy and I couldn't comfortably use it one-handed, as the center of gravity was too too high to hold it with one hand and hit the buttons.
The PRS- 600 screen wasn't much better, and still pretty heavy. The metal build of the early SONY models was quality, but the cost was weight, and that didn't work for my tiny hands.
