Good Possibility of a $6 VUDU Credit. But You've Got a Few Hoops to Jump Through.

I placed an online order with Walmart for $50+ yesterday. I got an email confirmation. At the exact (hour and minutes) same time, I received an email from Walmart thanking me for being a valued customer (blah, blah, blah) and giving me a code for a $6 VUDU credit. I freely admit that I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but I have to believe, because of the timing of the email, that I received the credit as a result of placing that order.

YMMV, of course. But if you're willing to do business with Walmart (and VUDU), you might want to try it out and see if you get the same results, by placing an online order with Walmart. Frankly, I loathe Walmart and VUDU (because Walmart owns them) and don't care whether they get any new business off of this or not, but I am interested in my fellow MobileReaders and some of you might get some benefit from this.

Even if you try this and the deal does not pan out for you, you're really not out anything. You're gonna load up on things that you would have bought at a bricks & mortar store anyway, right? And the prices on Walmart's website are the same (Rollbacks and clearance items included) as they are at the B&M stores.

The promotion seems to be tied to Mother's Day, because the email with the VUDU code said to "treat Mom to a new movie" (Mom doesn't watch movies, so I guess that I'll just have to use it for myself. ). So the promo probably ends no later than Mother's Day.

A couple of other ways to save money with Walmart online . . . . orders over $50 ship free (the free shipping is unpredictable in speed, but usually slow). Also, if you have Discover cards issued by Discover, you can save 5% by starting from the Discover website's "rewards" area and using your Discover card for the purchase.

Please do everyone else a favor. If you try this and do not get the same results that I did or if you do get the same results that I did, please make a post to that effect if no one else has yet done it, so that others will know.

Oh, yeah, the online Walmart's URL is simply walmart.com. VUDU's is simply vudu.com.

Fine print:
VUDU-enabled device and account required for digital viewing. Must redeem by 5/26/16. This offer is non-transferable. Movies are only available in the U.S. and customers must be 18 years or older to open a VUDU account. Limit 1 per customer.
