Carrying a device in an inner jacket pocket is more secure than a backpack. I don't see how the device will get jostled around or bumped while on your person unless you're playing football and running into people.

The device in a backpack moves around as you walk unless you have it tied down in there. Just placing the bag on the ground can jostle your device. Having it in your pocket is more secure in my opinion, at least then you know exactly where it is and what's touching it.
