When I was in Catholic School, we were taught we could eat Fish or Chicken on Fridays.
With the exception of Good Friday when we had lamb. Good Friday was also the only day we did not have to bring our own lunches.
Note this was from 1976-78.
Of course, that led to most Friday's my mother reminding me that I wasn't catholic.
