You don't
Calibre IS the Librarian. It needs to HAVE inside the book to open to get as much metadata as possible.

You could ADD books from the CD, then remove formats, leaving an empty Book

Preferences: Adding Books: Tag to apply: <the CD label/ID> so you can find them


A DVD is 4.7G
a !T HD is US$59. I doubt you will have that many books (or Manga) to push that capacity

IMHO Let Calibre do its thing and manage the books
