3M sends an email, too. At least, my other library did when they had 3M. They switched to Overdrive last year, but have the request function turned off. My main library's Overdrive thankfully still allows requests.

You have to fill in your email to be notified for the request to auto-generate though. When you make the request there's a box you put your email address in that says something along the lines of "Notify me when my library purchases this item"
