I've used it successfully, but it took me a while to figure it out (when all else fails, RTFM
). I use my standard Android googlemail address and I set the 'Sync books' option to 'Selected books only' - because of limited free account. I was only able to select a book to sync by setting Views to either List or Details, the latter is best. I think the whole book may get sent to their server.
I found the progress sync-ing to work most reliably when opening Bookari via its Android icon rather than opening a book via Calibre Companion widget or BookDetails - maybe because CC bypasses the Bookari home pages (where the sync symbols are visible ???) when opening/closing the book. However I have had it work correctly using CC-only as long as I didn't swap between Android devices too quickly.
ETA: I also got into the habit of manually forcing a sync before closing the book.
