I can't find the What's that book thread
Can't find the thread that helped find name and author of books.
Feeling stupid. Was trying to figure out the title and author for a science fiction series I read in the late 90s. I remember a team of specialists, a martial arts type of quasi religious fighting style and something like 99 steps to gain proficiency. There were at least four books in the series although I think there were more than that.
The protagonist of the first book became the leader of the team by the end of the series.
