Besides the first kindle, I've never ever read mine naked. Once I bought a cover (for protection), I keep it on the kindle and read it that way. Until this weekend. Now that I've seen the ads for the Oasis, my hands started hurting, and I was compelled to take my Voyage out of the cover (which was durned difficult to do, till I found how to do it).

So ... I will read my Oasis without the cover while at home, and dock it at night to recharge it. But, it will normally live in my purse, so that it goes with me. If I'm stuck in traffic (like, say some HUGE 2 hour snarl up), I have to have my kindle with me. In the car, I would probably take it out of the case. But reading on a bus, or in a grocery store checkout lane, I would certainly leave it in the cover while reading. For its protection.

Not that it provides the corner protection that I worry about .... So actually, I've been wondering if I can put it in an old heavy tooled-leather Oberon case I have. It's not actually a kindle case -- it's a journal case. It has 2" deep pockets to hold a hardback journal. (And it was cheaper than a case designed for a specific kindle.) The thin edge of the kindle would fit into that pocket, and the heavy leather would provide pretty good drop protection, I think. Possibly more than the provided case, since it would be bigger all round (over large edges). We'll see.
