The first mobile phone I remember seeing was in April 1993 and it could only be used in the car.
Now my grandfather had a radio phone in the trunk of his car in the 1970's. It was huge. You picked up the receiver and told the operator who you needed to call.
We were shown how to use it and told the only time we could use it was if there was a major accident at the oil rig.
