micro SD cards do fail. I had to throw one away recently. (No it was not from a Kobo). The nice thing about many of the Kobo devices is that the mSD card can be replaced. I have a larger card in my Kobo Mini, for example. (I think mine is an 8 GB card but 32 GB works fine, too). Of course, the only one that can be opened completely painlessly is the Mini.
