Photo please. The "inner edge" of the H2O (the reflective black parts) is actually quite essential, this is part of the infrared optics that make the touch screen work. If you have any kind of damage in this area it may be bad and you should go for a replacement.

If it's at the bottom of the screen and goes away when you turn off the light then maybe you're just talking about an effect of the frontlight LEDs... those are sometimes more, sometimes less visible... (usually not a problem if you don't use frontlight at 100%)
