You're right that most products do not have the same price in the US and UK. UK prices are generally higher, even taking VAT and sales tax into account.

Let's take a iPad mini 2 32gb as our example ,it costs $320 on Apples US site and £259 on the uk site,Amazon has done an unfair conversion here and they don't compare the current exchange rate to determine the price at all,Apple
Have been using the same pricing structures for their devices for a good half a decade so your points are invalid I'm afraid.
