You made a poorly-thought-out suggestion (but in no way was that meant to be an accusation about your or anyone else's intelligence ! ), and in this specific instance I am fairly confident calibre is doing the best job it can.
I doubt calibre is truly perfect, that is a pretty high bar. I can say that it does more or less everything I need it to do although it is also true that calibre is not for everybody (because I have seen people who are vehemently opposed to calibre, in some pretty drastic terms too).

If you want help working with the way calibre works, we can try to help you with that.
If you have criticisms of calibre, we'll try to be accepting of that... but suggestions which have the side effect of severe performance regressions (as I strongly believe is the case here) are not going to be given any respect.
