Heigh thee (which "hi" do I want back there?? **) to a store that will show you samples. I think the basic touch, or at least the basic PaperWhite would be perfect for you. The PaperWhite has a light up screen, which adds a whole lot of contrast. I have eye issues too. I resisted getting a lit up screen for eons (I didn't need that!!) but now that I have a Voyage, I am sold on them! The lights will provide the contrast that you need, even if you think you don't need the lights themselves. But go look at one in a store, to see what I mean.
