The AWS chart is a bit misleading: it only compares Amazon's cloud infrastructure services revenue to the other big players without looking at each company's full suite of cloud services. A closer look reveals that infrastructure is *all* of Amazon's cloud play whereas Microsoft and Google and Oracle, etc, are focused on monetizing the services that run on top of the cloud infrastructure. When you look at each company's full strategy for the cloud the story changes: instead of AWS being a giant among pygmies it is "merely" one of several big players and Microsoft, for one, matches AWS revenues by leveraging Azure, Office 365, Exchange, etc, often running on top of AWS itself.

AWS is a great play by Amazon and it has great prospects. But the cloud computing business is enormous and multifaceted. Plenty of ways to be a big player in that game. The likes of Microsoft and Oracle could conceivably concede 100% of the infrastructure side to Amazon and rake in even more money than Amazon by controlling the high margin apps and services running atop AWS.

No wounded gazelles or biggy whip vendors in that business.
