I finally got word from Barnes & Noble that they were going to refund my money for the Nook audiobook that I bought on 4-7-16. To refresh your memory, I bought the audiobook only to find out that it could only be played on an iOS or Android (I have neither).

I think that it would be enlightening to MobileReaders to see what B&N said in the message:

Follow-Up Incident

Response By Email (Ronak) (04/13/2016 02:11 PM)
Dear xxxxxxxxxxx,
Thank you for your email regarding your recent audio book purchase.
As you requested, we are issuing a full refund in the amount of $3.99 to your credit card. Please be aware that our audio books are not refundable, and this refund is a one-time courtesy.

The part that I think that MobileReaders should take note of is the fact that this supervisor says that "our audio books are not refundable, and this refund is a one-time courtesy." Other things that I had read from B&N before, however, including a note or two from them concerning this issue, said that the audiobooks are refundable if they have not been downloaded. This letter above seems to be saying that their policy is that no audiobooks are refundable. But, this "one" time, as a courtesy, they're refunding my money.

I don't know if this is a new policy that they recently put into effect or if maybe it's a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing (one department thinks that x is the policy, while another thinks that y is the policy). But, I wanted to pass this along so that you can be aware of a possible change in their policy and maybe take extra time in your decision-making about purchasing an audiobook from them, to make sure that you really do want it and will be able to use it once you get it. Because, you may not be able to get your money back anymore on those purchases even if you haven't downloaded them.
