Grip is not hold. I might pick up my tablet with my left hand (hold it in my left hand) and then take it over with my right (to read, i.e. to grip it firmly). For me, a device of that size (so not holdable with one hand between thumb and finger), should always have bezels, on all sides, that allow me to put my thumb down without touching the screen.
Or I might want to hold it with two hands, because I'm standing/sitting on a surface that's not still (think train, bus or car). Holding a device still with one hand is a lot harder when you're driving on an uneven surface.
