I dunno what goes at Kobo!!

I try to invite a friend using the $10/$5 promo and can't get it to work because it never gets to the screen where I'd actually enter my friend's email address. So, my friend starts a new account believing the info in the photo below, and instead of getting a $5 credit gets a 40% off promo code.

So, how confusing is it to work at Kobo, because it's darn confusing to be a customer!!
